AGENDAS: CONCEPTS AND THEMATIC S IN SCULPTURE'S EXPANDED FIELD - COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
SEPTEMBER 10 - NOVEMBER 17, 2012
Brentwood Arts Exchange in partnership with the Washington Sculptors Group presents Agendas: Concepts and Thematics in Sculpture's Expanded Field - Community Engagement, in the gallery September 10 - November 17, 2012. Juried by Howard University, Assistant Professor of Art History, Teresia Bush, Agendas, presents art's socio-political nature, through an engaging and interactive exhibition of contemporary sculpture by regional artists. Along with its socio-political undertones, the artwork featured in Agendas continues to push the debate over the presentation of sculpture.

Featuring Artists: Blair Bainbridge, Alan Binstock, Alonzo Davis, Terry deBardelaben, Martin Feldman, Olivier Giron, George Lorio, Christina Marsh, Mike Shaffer, Ward Tietz, Adejoke Tugbiyele, Carlos Vargas, Alice Yutzy

Every fall when the exhibition season kicks off, there's one show that reminds you how much you missed seeing really strong art, this year that show is going to be Agendas.

The Opening Reception is Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 5-8pm.

FRONT WINDOW FEATURED ARTIST: KARYNE MESSINA
SEPTEMBER 10 - NOVEMBER 17, 2012
Brentwood Arts Exchange presents the artwork of local glass artist and sculptor Karyne Messina in the craft showcase. Karyne's blown glass and metal sculptures, which resemble a vivid array of whimsical floating sea creatures, ships and dancing figures will be displayed in the gallery's front windows as our latest Front Window Featured Artist.
Karyne's work, delicate-yet playful, comes from her belief that individuals are the sum of their experiences, and views her work as a reflection of her childhood encounters with the sea as well as the many other observations she's made throughout her life. As she works, she approaches glassblowing as a dance between two people; wherein artworks evolve as the artist and assistant work together creating new forms.

The Opening Reception is Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 5-8pm.
