I signed up for drama my freshman year at Washington High School in Phoenix. No room, so they forced me to take journalism. Thank goodness. Soon after I decided that I wanted to work in newspapers. I graduated from Arizona State University then started my career. I’ve worked for newspapers from Alaska to Texas, California to Maryland. Most of that time has been spent in sports, where my staffs have won numerous Associated Press Sports Editors awards, including top 10 daily, top 10 Sunday and top 10 special section. In 2002 I left El Paso and moved the Washington, D.C., region. I was news editor at the Washington Blade before beginning work at The Gazette in December 2005. Since then I have been the Prince George’s A&E editor, Bowie and Largo editor and now the sports editor.
