If you have questions about submitting events or milestones, look no further – I am the go-to girl for celebrations, obituaries and calendars for all Montgomery County editions of The Gazette. While I am a recent college graduate, I have gotten to know my way around the newsroom fairly well, so I will answer any other question you have about the paper to the best of my abilities! As news clerk/office manager/staff writer, I work for The Gazette in a variety of capacities – some administrative, others creative. I handle the community calendars that appear on A-2, police reports, obituaries and celebrations such as engagement and wedding announcements. I also am a primary point of contact in the letters to the editor process. Additionally, as office manager, I make sure the newsroom is running smoothly. I occasionally write articles as well, which keeps me in touch with my journalism roots. I graduated from the University of Maryland in May 2012 with a bachelor’s in journalism and began my position here two weeks later. Previously, I have interned for the Takoma Voice, HOME & DESIGN Magazine and PostSecret, and I was both a copy editor and a section editor for campus publication Unwind! Magazine for four years. I also worked at the University Career Center and the President’s Promise for three years as an office aide. I enjoy keeping up with entertainment news – and, no, that’s not a euphemism for “celebrity gossip” – and listening to essentially any music that can be considered rock in some form.
