Hi! I’m Morgan Young, a Prince George’s County native and recent Frederick area transplant, with a food addiction and an obsession with online journalism. I’m a proud graduate of West Virginia University – Let’s go Mountaineers! – where I earned my bachelor's degree in print journalism and a minor in creative writing in 2011, becoming the third generation in my family to receive a degree from the school. I attribute my passion for news storytelling to the West Virginia Uncovered project at WVU, a multimedia project where students used video, audio, and print elements to tell the stories of the Mountain state. I contributed to Uncovered for a year, eventually becoming a teaching assistant for the project. Before joining the Frederick Gazette news team, I worked as a staff writer for the Chambersburg Public Opinion, where I managed a hyperlocal website. I have also worked as an intern for Media Matters for America and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. I am excited to begin a new chapter in my life with the Gazette, where it’s my pleasure to cover the Frederick communities of Mount Airy and New Market, as well as the Montgomery County communities of Damascus and Clarksburg.
