Before joining The Gazette, I worked for small daily newspapers in Vermont and New Hampshire. Besides reporting on education, the courts and politics, I’ve been an entertainment editor, news editor, business editor, photo editor, editorial page editor, editorial writer, features writer and photographer. I have won several press association awards for my reporting on ethnic and racial issues, editorial writing, special sections and headline writing. Before settling into a journalism career, I worked a variety of jobs, from restaurants to group homes for people with developmental disabilities. I hold a bachelor’s in screen studies from Clark University and still enjoy watching (good) movies, especially on “the big screen.” When I’m not at work, I also enjoy running on the Capital Crescent Trail in Bethesda and Washington, D.C., and taking on the occasional race.
