I’m a Charles County native, born and raised in Waldorf. I grew up with the Maryland Independent delivered to my house, and knew from a young age that writing was my passion. I graduated from Saint Leo University in Florida in December 2011 with a bachelor’s in English, and after spending my college career writing and editing for the campus paper, I was lucky enough to be hired a week after graduation and started with the Independent in January 2012, and haven’t looked back since. I currently cover the Charles County court system, along with the Planning Commission and Liquor Board. When I get the chance, I also really enjoy writing feature stories, particularly focusing on social justice issues and the quirkier side of the region. I’m the recipient of two Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association awards, including second place for continuing coverage of homelessness in the region and first place for religion reporting. I like reading, film and television, Philadelphia sports, going to concerts and exploring the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area in my little black car.
