The Juvenile Drug and Family Recovery Courts are problem-solving courts operating in the Circuit Court for Charles County.
These courts address matters that are under the court’s jurisdiction through a multidisciplinary and integrated approach that incorporates collaboration among courts, government and community organizations.
Drug courts strive to build strong community partnerships and enhance the capacity of these partners to assist in the rehabilitation of substance-abusing youth and adults.
The Drug Courts Steering Committee, in conjunction with the Point of Change Ministry, held a fundraiser Aug. 19 at the Sleep Inn in La Plata to benefit the Juvenile Drug and Family Recovery Court Programs of Charles County.
As the drug court coordinator, I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to the Sleep Inn that generously provided the banquet room, tables and equipment necessary to support the event and to the guest speaker, Del. C.T. Wilson.
I also would like to extend a very special thank-you to chaplain John Lewis and the Point of Change Jail and Street Ministry, Servants of Christ Ministries, Salvation and Praise Ministries. The attendees were entertained by spiritual musical selections, and the Juvenile Drug Court participants contributed to the opening ceremony, food service and cleanup.
