The St. Charles Children’s Learning Center at the College of

Southern Maryland selected the Charles County Humane Society as the donation source for its holiday giving campaign. CSM staff, faculty, students and families of children at the CLC were invited to donate dog and cat food and toys for the animals at the humane society. Stacy Cage,

director of humane education the humane society, visited the CLC Dec. 13 to collect the donations and to share a story with the children. During her visit, Cage read “Buddy Unchained” by Daisy Bix as part of the CLC’s celebrity reader program. The book tells the story of Buddy, a dog that was rescued from a home where he was mistreated and is placed in a shelter where he meets his “forever family.” After the story, the children were invited to meet and visit with
