Two Waldorf relatives were arrested Dec. 22 on charges of theft after they allegedly stole a deposit bag full of money from Wendy’s in Prince Frederick in December.

Keith Demarr Young, 27, and Terri Lynn Thomas Young, 43, both of Waldorf, were each charged with one count of theft more than $1,000 but less than $10,000.

Keith Young, originally held without bond, was released Dec. 27 from the Calvert County Detention Center after posting his $20,000 bond.

Terri Young was released Dec. 23 after posting her $5,000 bond.

On Dec. 7 at 9:19 a.m., deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to Wendy’s at 170 Solomons Island Road for a reported burglary, according to a sheriff’s office press release.

Det. M. Mudd and Sgt. R. Naughton of the Calvert Investigative Team spoke to the Wendy’s manager, who said she left the restaurant that morning to deposit money at the bank. When the manager got in her car, she was approached by a black man who jabbed a hard object into her side, according to the press release. The man then took the deposit bag containing the money and ran, deputies said.

An employee inside the store saw the manager being robbed by a black man, deputies said. The employee allegedly followed the man north on state Route 4 on foot until the man ran across the road and got inside a dark colored vehicle and drove north.

Deputies said a description of the suspect vehicle was broadcasted, but the vehicle was not located.

Several suspects were later identified after following up on a crime solver’s tip, deputies said. On Dec. 22, Keith Young was seen driving a vehicle in Waldorf. Police tried to stop the vehicle, but Keith Young allegedly fled, according to the press release. Keith Young was later arrested in the front yard of a home in Waldorf after his vehicle was blocked in by police, deputies said.

That same day, a second suspect, Terri Young, was found and arrested in Prince Frederick, deputies said.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Calvert Investigative Team at 410-535-1600 and contact Mudd on extension 4691 or Sgt. Naughton on extension 2583, or call Calvert County Crime Solvers at 410-535-2880 and leave an anonymous tip.
