Louis Edward Pulliam Sr., 72, Leonardtown

Louis Edward Pulliam Sr., 72, of Leonardtown died after a long battle with cancer Feb. 8, 2012, at home.

Born March 16, 1939, in Marshall Hall, he was the son of the late Harry Clay Pulliam Sr. and Katie Evelyn Dudley Wise.

He was an excellent concrete finisher. He took pride in his work and never left a job unfinished.

His family was his life. Every weekend, the family was together either playing cards or camping. He enjoyed camping and taking his grandchildren on treasure hunts. He had an outstanding sense of humor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Pulliam; and sister, Rosalee Reece.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Eleanor T. Petty Pulliam; children, Louis “Puggie” Pulliam Jr. and his wife, Stacey of Great Mills, Debbie “Sis” Hawks-Tudor and her husband, Tom of Leonardtown, Julie Alvey and her husband, Larry of Great Mills, David “Crockett” Pulliam and hs wife, Sarah of Ridge, Joseph “Grinder” Pulliam and his wife, Colleen of Sioux Falls, S.D., James “Jamie” Pulliam and his wife, Cathy of Lexington Park and Christopher “Chris” Pulliam and his wife, Tobie of Lexington Park; 28 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; siblings, William and his wife, Pat Pulliam of Ridge, Alex and his wife, Pat Pulliam of St. Inigoes, Charles and his wife, Sue Pulliam of Lexington Park, Shirley Purcell of Lexington Park, Betty and her husband, George Kelsea of Lexington Park, Harry and his wife, Squeaky Pulliam Jr. of Fredericksburg, Va., Joyce and her partner, Lorraine Pulliam of Fredericksburg and Paul Pulliam of Fredericksburg; sister-in-law, Helen Reece of Avenue; brother-in-law, Eddie Reece of Mechanicsville; many nieces and nephews; and extended family members, Jeff Hawks, Connie Adkins, Trish Lee, Laura Brubaker and Helen Johnson.

A memorial service was held Feb. 12 at American Legion Post 255, Ridge.
