Police responded Monday morning to reports that an unresponsive woman was lying on a path behind a shopping center in Lexington Park, according to St. Mary’s detectives, and she was pronounced dead after an ambulance brought her to a hospital.
An employee at the Maryland state medical examiner’s office said Tuesday morning that an autopsy was under way on the body of Edwina Denise Fenwick, a 49-year-old Lexington Park resident.
The law officers and Lexington Park rescue volunteers were dispatched shortly after 11 a.m. to the area behind the St. Mary’s Square shopping area, detectives report, and efforts to revive the woman commenced before she was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital.
No external injuries to the woman were found during the initial investigation, detectives report, and Capt. Terry Black, commander of the St. Mary’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations, said Tuesday that there were no indications thus far of foul play in Fenwick’s death.
