Middletown Park was the site of a March 17 event to remember a Middletown family killed in 2009.

The Francie’s Family 5K Run/Walk drew more than 400 participants in memory of Francie Billotti-Wood, who was killed along with her three children by her husband, Christopher Wood.

The event included the 5K run/walk, a children’s fun run, food and music.

This was the third year the event was staged.

Funds raised the first year went to buy four new pieces of playground equipment for the Middletown Memorial Park, while money raised for the 2011 event was used to build the butterfly garden at the Catoctin Creek Nature Center.

This year’s proceeds will be given to the Braddock Heights Pavilion Project.
