A Leonardtown area man died Saturday evening, police report, when the pickup truck he was driving went off Medley’s Neck Road and overturned in a ditch.

David Michael Bell Jr., 22, was traveling east on the roadway toward Valley Lee at about 7:50 p.m. Saturday when the 2002 Toyota Tacoma struck and rolled down a dirt embankment, according to St. Mary's sheriff's deputies. Bell, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the truck, and he died at the scene.

A sheriff's release states that speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the crash.
