William Randolph Arnold, 90, of Ridge died April 3, 2012, at Genesis HealthCare in Waldorf.

He was born Oct. 26, 1921, to the late James Monroe Arnold and Virginia Louise Clarke Arnold of Ridge.

He was retired from the Department of Defense Mapping Agency as a lithographer. He worked there from Jan. 1, 1946, until 1977. He served in the U.S. Army from July 1942 until 1945. He served as a sergeant in the 78th Fighter Squadron during World Ward II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 59 years, Lois Spicer Arnold; and siblings, Virginia Lucille Arnold Newgent and James Richard Arnold.

He is survived by his daughter, Evelyn K. Newcomb and her husband, Randy Newcomb; son, Randolph H. Arnold and his wife, Margaretta Arnold; grandchildren, Jason A. Newcomb and his wife, Sharon Newcomb, Melissa Flerlage and her husband, Darren Flerlage, Michael Arnold and his fiance, Skyelar Bielata and Brandon Arnold; and great-grandchildren, Darren Flerlage Jr., Nicholas Newcomb, Emma Newcomb and Austin Flerlage.

A visitation was held April 10 at Lee Funeral Home in Clinton where a service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 11. The Rev. James Chance will officiate.

Interment will take place at 11 a.m. at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham.

Pallbearers will be Randy Newcomb, Jason Newcomb, Michael Arnold, Brandon Arnold, Darren Flerlage and Steve Arnold.
