The Small Business Development Center and the Business Alliance of Charles County have come together to bring two workshops to the area.

“Staying Relevant in a Changing Marketplace,” featuring Casey Willson, a retail expert with the Maryland SBDC, will be held 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. April 17 at the College of Southern Maryland’s Business and Industry Building at 8730 Mitchell Road in La Plata.

The workshop will focus on changing consumer behavior, defining a customer in different ways, differentiating product service offerings, the difference between customer process vs. customer service in operations, the role of branding, components of marketing and communication strategy, and the content and timing of messaging to increase sales and retain customers.

Cost is $25 per attendee. Alliance members will pay $20.

SBDC also will host “7 Powerful Ways to Turn a Prospect Into a Customer” at CSM’s La Plata campus from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 19.

Participants will learn a repeatable process that will increase their ability to close more sales.

Cost is $25 per person.
