A Calvert County man has been jailed in St. Mary's in lieu of $5,000 bond on charges including a third-degree sexual offense obtained by detectives investigating a complaint earlier this month that a 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted inside the Walmart store in California.
David Alan Dobbs, 54, of Port Republic also was charged with committing a second-degree assault during the alleged April 7 incident.
The matter was reported to police two days later, according to St. Mary's detectives, who reviewed video surveillance at the store that allegedly also showed two other girls being inappropriately touched in the store on April 4. Law officers carried out a house raid on Friday in Port Republic, and Dobbs was arrested.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the two April 4 incidents in St. Mary's, and alleged offenses in Calvert County. Detectives have not yet identified one of the girls involved in the April 4 incidents, and have asked that the person accompanying the child that day at the store call 301-475-4200, ext. 9042.
