Additional victims have come forward from an assault at a birthday party in Brandywine Saturday night.
Police say they now know that nine juveniles were stabbed, cut or assaulted around 10:30 p.m. in the 19000 block of Poplar Ridge Road during a girl’s “sweet 16” birthday party.
Sgt. Sonya Rorls, a county police spokeswoman, said at least two unknown suspects knew about the birthday party via social media websites and came uninvited.
She said there could have been additional suspects, but police are unsure as the investigation continues.
“There may have been other victims who have not yet come forward,” Rorls said. “They could be witnesses that may have knowledge of the incident.”
The night of the incident, two teens who were stabbed, three who were cut and one who was kicked in the face came to police and were treated at an area hospital and released, Rorls said. She said the additional victims who have come forward did not seek medical attention.
Cpl. Larry Johnson, a county police spokesman, said police believe this was an isolated incident and that the suspects knew the victims.
“They were uninvited, and they crashed the party,” he said.
