Hey emergency responders: where’s the fire?

Lately I have been in fear for my life when I look in my rearview mirror and see a 5-ton vehicle coming from behind at 80-plus miles per hour, with no intentions of slowing up.

I want to let you know that the auto industry has done a fantastic job of making my car air-tight and sound-proof. Thanks to allergies and wanting to be comfortable, I ride with my windows up and the air conditioning or heat on. I also like to listen to some tunes, so, although I don’t have the volume cranked, it is loud enough to drown out my out-of-tune voice.

So, when I see you barreling down the road, that’s just it, I am seeing you. I haven’t been ignoring you. I, too, need time to respond. The last time I barely made it to the grassy median strip. Fortunately, I have been driving long enough and was able to keep my cool, but it was upsetting, so much so that I am writing this letter to let you know my life and the lives of other drivers are important, too.
