Mary Frances Norris, 74, of Valley Lee died May 4, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Born Sept. 24, 1937, in Leonardtown, she was the daughter of the late James Carroll and Gladys Victoria Sheehan.

She was the wife of Joseph Carroll Norris, whom she married May 7, 1955, in Drayden. He preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1980. She was also formerly married to Charlie Earl Scott. He also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children, Donna Jean Scott (Johnny) of Chesapeake, Va., James Richard Norris of Hollywood and Robert Michael and Thomas William Norris, both of Callaway; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her siblings, Hilda Trossbach of Scotland, Carol Johnson of Valley Lee and James Sheehan of Great Mills.

Mrs. Norris was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County and was a homemaker. She enjoyed flowers, plants and caregiving.

The family will receive friends today, May 9, from 5 to 8 p.m., with prayers to be recited at 7 p.m., at Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home in Leonardtown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 10, at St. George Catholic Church in Valley Lee, with Monsignor Karl Chimiak officiating. Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Ridge. Pallbearers will be Michael Hickman, Timmy Redman, Bill Clarke, Michael Weeks, Bobby Norris and Pat Redman. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Moore, Kyle Kidwell, Joey Norris, Marcus Hickman, Tyler Mecure, Kaylynn Moore and T.J. Redman.
