Bad date to have a date
Potomac High School had a strong argument as the favorite coming into the county track and field championships this past weekend at Henry A. Wise High School. It finished in 19th place.
Missing from the Wolverines' lineup was, well, nearly everyone. They had dates to entertain, not times to beat, and songs, not starter's pistols, to move their feet to. Saturday was their prom.
“We look forward more to the state and region meets,” said Potomac coach Stan Mullins, who apparently was not invited to the big dance. “They deserve tonight.”
McNamara falls in WCAC baseball series
The Bishop McNamara baseball team fell, 3-2, to Paul VI (Va.) Sunday at the University of Maryland's Shipley Field in the final contest of the three-game Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship series.
The Mustangs (13-18) entered the tournament with the eighth and final seed and had a chance to tie the game in the seventh on a shot off the left field fence by Hunter Mohler but only one of two runners scored when John Hopkins mistakenly missed third base and had to go back to touch it. That forced Reginald Ware to settle for third base.
