Kids First Swim Schools, a privately owned provider of swimming instruction, is set to open its newest location in the recently renovated Blair Center on Crain Highway in Waldorf at the end of the month.
The Maryland-based company operates 14 locations in the mid-Atlantic region.
Kids First is known for its kid-friendly teaching environment, according to a news release announcing the store’s opening.
The pools range from 2 to 5 feet deep. The water temperature is maintained at 90 degrees. Large steps serve as learning stations for the little ones.
The curriculum has been copywritten by the Library of Congress and has produced thousands of proficient swimmers, the release states.
Classes are conducted from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
Owner Gary Roth has said that three more schools will open in Germantown, Frederick and Sterling, Va., in the next nine months.
“Clearly, the communities we serve have supported this concept, allowing me to grow the company and bring the service to more and more young families,” Roth said.
The Waldorf school has registered 200 swimmers for its first session set to start June 1.
