Nothing says “summer” more than cutting into a fresh piece of fruit, or the scent of blooming flowers.
These summer favorites and much more will be up for sale in Thurmont starting June 9.
The Thurmont Main Street Flea & Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday from June 9 through Sept. 22, on Boundary Avenue, at the entrance of the Guardian Hose Company.
The market, which is in its eighth year, is popular with the vendors that sell their wares and the people who come out to shop. Customers are known to start lining up before 9 a.m.
“We get a real good turnout,” said Thurmont Commissioner John Kinnaird. “We get about nine or 10 vendors for the whole summer and between 150 and 200 people that turn out to the market regularly. People are already talking about it.”
A wide array of products will also be on sale. They include fresh dairy products, fruit, vegetables, muffins, cookies, flowers, eggs, cheese and cinnamon buns.
The cost for vendors is $5 for one time and $20 for the season.
Vendors interested in setting up a table can call Karen Kinnaird at 301-271-4811 or John Kinnaird at 301-271-2273 or 301-606-9458. Applications can also be picked up at the Thurmont Town Office, 10 Frederick Road in Thurmont.
