John Anthony Dyson, 43, Waldorf

John Anthony “Tony” Dyson, 43, of Waldorf died May 24, 2012, at Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton.

Born Aug. 14, 1968, in La Plata, he was the son of Sandra R. Dyson and John Andrew Hawkins.

He was educated in the Charles County public school system, graduating from Lackey High School. He touched many lives over the years while working at Southern Maryland Hospital Center, which he worked for more than 25 years as head chef.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior; he loved singing gospel music and praising God. He was a humble and friendly person.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Tavon Jamarr Taylor; brothers, Gerald and his wife, Mary Dyson, James Leroy and his wife, Tracie Brown and John A. Hawkins; sisters, Fonya Schree Webb, Tomika Jemece Hawkins and Kita Deale; fiancee, Lina Marie Wilkerson; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. June 2 at Raymond Funeral Service, La Plata. Burial will take place at Heritage Memorial Cemetery, Waldorf.

Pallbearers will be Donte’ Taylor, Terrance Johnson, Elroy Hawkins, Bryant Hawkins, David Washington, Cecil Carroll, Bertram Muschette and Garnell Heard Jr.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.
