Charles Barnes Sr., 71, Indian Head
Charles “Buck” Barnes Sr., 71, of Indian Head died May 30, 2012, at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C.
He was born Feb. 22, 1941, in Upperco, the son of the late Edward Francis Barnes and the late Anna Mae Barnes.
He was the head of maintenance for many years in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation office at Naval Support Facility Indian Head. He enjoyed golf, fishing, telling jokes and laughing with friends, and catching catfish and cooking them for a crowd at Goose Bay Marina.
He was very proud of his two children, and for their success in their adult lives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Audrey Grinder and George Barnes.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Anne Skinner Barnes, whom he married Oct. 5, 1968; children, Kimberly Anne Barnes Schoen and Charles Leroy Barnes Jr. and his wife, Jaime Lynn Barnes; grandsons, Alexander James Schoen and Kyle Matthew Barnes; and siblings, Emma Lancaster, Dorothy Grimes, Tommy Barnes, Roma McClaugherty and Larry Wayne Barnes.
Visitation was June 5 at Williams Funeral Home, Indian Head, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. June 6. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf.
Pallbearers will be Charles L. Barnes Jr., Kimberly Anne Barnes Schoen, Eric McClaugherty, Alex Schoen, Cindy Price and Mark Warner.
