A Laurel man was charged with speeding and marijuana possession following a traffic stop early Saturday morning, police said.
Trooper J. Edelen was on patrol along southbound U.S. 301 at its intersection with Billingsley Road when he saw a gold Chevy Impala traveling 61 mph in a 45 mph zone.
Edelen pulled the car over and smelled marijuana while speaking to the driver, Travis Jerrod White, 30, police reported.
White was arrested and charged with speeding, marijuana possession, possession with intent to distribute and possession of paraphernalia.
Trooper T. Hooten arrived on the scene to assist.
