Michael Justin Van Nostrand, 29, of Dunkirk died May 28, 2012, in Prince Frederick.

He was born Sept. 5, 1982, in Charleston, S.C., to Stuart Van Nostrand and Kathy Hardiman.

He moved to Calvert County in 1998 and graduated from Northern High School in 2000. He had worked as a HVAC mechanic. He enjoyed fishing, football, hiking, music, his dog and keeping in touch with friends on Facebook.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Thornton Hardiman.

He is survived by his mother, Kathy Steinitz and her husband, Louis, of Dunkirk; father, Stuart Van Nostrand and his wife, Yan, of Pasadena; brothers, Jason Van Nostrand and Louis Steinitz Jr., both of Dunkirk; sisters, Kristina Steinitz of Dunkirk and Talia Van Nostrand of Pasadena; grandparents, Marilyn Parker of Summerfield, Fla., and George and Mittie Van Nostrand of Ocean Pines; niece, Kayla Van Nostrand; and nephew, Blake Van Nostrand.

A memorial service was held June 2 at Raymond-Wood Funeral Home in Dunkirk, with the Rev. Chad Martin from Jesus the Good Shepherd Church officiating.

Interment was private.
