Seat Pleasant Mayor Eugene Grant and the City Council awarded Seat Pleasant Elementary School $10,000 on June 5, part of its annual donation to the school via a line item in its fiscal year budget.

The award was announced during the graduation exercises at the school and is double the $5,000 given to the school in 2011 because the school is expecting an increase in students enrolled in its autism program this fall, said Vinnie Mascarenhas, a special assistant to Grant.

Seat Pleasant Elementary is one of seven Prince George’s County elementary schools with a program dedicated to assisting children on the autism disorder spectrum.
