Lake Arbor student achieves perfect attendance for seven years
From kindergarten through grade 6, Joshua Johnson of Mitchellville never missed a single day of school at Lake Arbor Elementary.
“We’re just thrilled that he was diligent and that he persevered to achieve that distinction,” said school counselor Eric Roberts after a ceremony honoring the milestone at the school graduation on June 6.
“It’s very unusual for someone to have perfect attendance for seven years through an entire elementary school career,” Roberts said. “We certainly celebrate that.”
Joshua’s mother, Lenore Johnson, daughter of an Air Force man, said she learned early about the importance of going to school every day.
“Attending school is like attending a job, unless you’re very sick,” she said.
“When [Joshua] was sick, it was on a weekend, and if he had appointments, I’d take him before or after school,” she said.
“We just made it work,” said Lenore Johnson about her son’s perfect attendance record.
