Jake Wirtz, a Mount Airy resident and Linganore High School alumnus, recently graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Wirtz received his bachelor of science degrees in construction engineering management and civil engineering from the school during their commencent ceremonies May 12.

Wirtz will return to the Balcksburg, Va., school this fall to pursue a master of science degree in geotechnical engineering. He is the son of Kevin and Natalie Wirtz of Mount Airy.
