Katherine A. McCartney, 52, of Slingerlands, N.Y., formerly of Calvert County, died June 7, 2012, at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital.

She was born in Arlington, Va., to Laben and Elizabeth Baron McCartney.

She is a graduate of Cornell Law School and most recently worked as Deputy Council for the New York State Thruway Authority. She was previously employed by the New York State Senate. She enjoyed gardening, kayaking, exercise classes at the Bethlehem YMCA and her participation as a board member at the Egg Center for the Performing Arts in Albany.

She is survived by her loving husband, Eric Fluster; parents; daughters, Morgan and Sydney; father- and mother-in-law, Jay and Eileen Fluster of Guilderland; other members of the Fluster and McCartney families; and many close friends.

Family received friends June 10 at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave. in Delmar, N.Y.

Funeral services will be private.
