Please allow this letter to introduce you to the inaugural Farming 4 Hunger Golf Classic, hosted by Emmanuel Church in Huntingtown. We are asking you to partner with us for this important cause, which serves the people of Southern Maryland by supporting Farming 4 Hunger. Farming 4 Hunger was founded by Bernie Fowler Jr., a local businessman from Southern Maryland. Bernie had a vision to raise local fresh vegetables for area food pantries in an effort to help feed the hungry of Southern Maryland. Though a new nonprofit organization, Farming 4 Hunger, with the assistance of local churches, was able to assist in harvesting and distributing just under 200,000 pounds of produce to hungry citizens in Calvert County in 2011. But Bernie just could not stop there and felt an overwhelming desire to grow the project to serve not only Calvert County but all of Southern Maryland.

“I have watched many friends and colleagues suffer with this downturn in the economy. Our business suffered greatly. One day while visiting a Maryland Food Drop, I recognized individuals with their families getting food. Several [of those] individuals did contract work on houses my company built. Many of them told me the food helped keep the lights on and mortgage paid, even if only for a couple months. We as a community working together can help those who feel forgotten,” said Fowler in a press release.

This is a great opportunity for your company to receive exposure and help to support a worthy cause. As a participating sponsor, you will receive:

Ÿ Reference in the tournament brochure materials;

Ÿ Opportunity to include a branded item in players’ gift bags;

Ÿ One premium hole sponsorship;

Ÿ Sponsor recognition at the awards ceremony; and

Ÿ Extended right to retain sponsorship on a one-year continuum.

The first annual Farming 4 Hunger Golf Classic will be held at Twin Shields Golf Club on June 29. Your involvement will make this year’s event extra special. We appreciate your consideration and look forward to hearing from you soon. Scott Matthews, Tripp Causey and Greg Morawski are tournament directors. Should you have any questions, feel free to call Scott at 240-876-4174, Tripp at 410-741-5448 or Greg at 410-610-0748.
