Curtis Brian Wertz, 73, of Port Republic died June 14, 2012, at the Mandrin House in Harwood.
He was born Nov. 25, 1938, in Washington Boro, Pa., to the late Joseph and Anna Mae Kilheffer Wertz Jr.
He received an honorable discharge from the Navy after serving 10 years and was a Vietnam War veteran. He helped start Dunkirk Supply, working as a manager, then went on to become vice president. After his first retirement from there, he went back to work there as a truss designer. He worked for 35 years with Ed Howlin/Dunkirk Supply. He loved to play golf and was a member of the GMA Golfing Group. He was a member of the American Legion Post 206 in Chesapeake Beach and a very active member of the Elks Lodge No. 2620 in Prince Frederick.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Phyllis J. Wertz; and siblings, Joseph Wertz III and Irene M. Sauders.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Lee Walker of Port Republic; children, Steven B. Wertz and his wife, Sheila, of Huntingtown and Stephanie J. Morris and her husband, Michael, of Deltona, Fla.; stepchildren, Shelley L. Combs and her husband, William, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Nicolette K. May and her husband, Daniel, of Port Republic; stepgrandchildren, Danielle Philipps, Keith May, Rachael May, Dana May and Scott Combs; brother, Robert B. Wertz of Washington Boro, Pa.; and sisters, Janet Gerlach of Landisville, Pa., and Doris L. Wertz of Columbia, Pa.
Family received friends on June 19 at Rausch Funeral Home, 4405 Broomes Island Road in Port Republic.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today, June 20, at Christ Episcopal Church, 3100 Broomes Island Road in Port Republic.
Inurnment will follow at 2 p.m. at Southern Memorial Gardens in Dunkirk.
