Portable toilets were brought in and emergency drinking water was used at Mutual Elementary School on Tuesday, June 5, due to a water line break.
Calvert County Public Schools Director of School Facilities Thomas Powers explained that the break was due to a contractor hitting a water line overnight.
He said about 14 portable toilets were brought to the school, which already had two of them onsite.
Powers said all public schools in the county are equipped with emergency drinking water.
He said water was restored by about 12:30 p.m. the same day but “we asked everyone at school to not consume the water until we tested it the next morning.”
Powers said the bathrooms were usable by 12:15 p.m. June 5 and that the Calvert County Health Department was onsite “at least half the time.”
