Charles County government offices, the Tri-County Animal Shelter in Hughesville, the Charles County landfill, recycling center and composting facility off Billingsley Road in Waldorf, and the recycling center on Route 425 in Pisgah will be closed on July 4 for the Independence Day holiday.
The Crain Memorial Welcome Center will be open for normal business hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 4. The welcome center is at 12480 Crain Highway in Newburg. Call 301-259-2500.
VanGO will operate on reduced hours on July 4. All bus service will operate normally throughout the day, but will end early with last departures from the Waldorf transfer point for the 301 Connector, Business A, Business B and Charlotte Hall routes at 5:30 p.m.; last departures from the Waldorf transfer point for Berry Road, Indian Head, Pinefield, St. Charles A, St. Charles B and St. Charles C routes at 6 p.m.; last departures from the La Plata transfer point for Newburg at 4:30 p.m.; last departures from the La Plata transfer point for the 301 Connector, Nanjemoy and Bryans Road routes at 5:30 p.m.; and last departure from the La Plata transfer point for La Plata at 6 p.m.
All pools will be open noon to 5 p.m. for open swim. Come to the pool wearing red, white or blue and pay $2 to swim all day.
Community centers, Elite Gymnastics & Recreation Center and Port Tobacco Recreation Center will be closed.
All park facilities will be open normal hours.
