Shamal Ulysses Weems, 36, of California was released on personal recognizance after his arrest on charging papers alleging he tried to break into a former girlfriend’s home on Sunday, broke a window and drove a pickup truck against the residence, damaging a paved door step.

Weems was charged with committing a third-degree burglary at Kelly Busby’s home off Chancellor’s Run Road and a property destruction offense, through the investigation by St. Mary’s sheriff’s deputy William Wood.
