Mary Ann Claggett, 51, Lexington Park

Mary Ann Claggett, 51, of Lexington Park died June 14, 2012, at Chesapeake Shores Nursing Home, Lexington Park. She was formerly of Indian Head.

Born Nov. 7, 1960, in La Plata, she was the daughter the late Allen L. Smith and Mary Rose Smith.

A graduate of Lackey High School, Mrs. Claggett worked at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C., and at Stump Neck Annex. She enjoyed family gatherings, including Easter egg hunts and weekend cookouts with family and friends. Her children and grandchildren gave her the most enjoyment in life. She was feisty and spunky.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Herbert Claggett, whom she married April 12, 1980.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by daughters, Melissa A. Claggett and Christina Claggett; sons, Thomas W. Claggett and Robert E.Y. Claggett; brothers, Allen E. Smith and Donald L. Smith; and grandchildren, James Claggett, Alexander Claggett and Ethan Claggett.

Visitation was June 19 at Williams Funeral Home, Indian Head. Burial was at Christ Church, Accokeek.
