Main Street Middletown has received a grant to produce a booklet helping owners of historic properties in town maintain their homes.
The $2,000 grant will help with the design and formatting of a design guidelines booklet for the Middletown Historic District.
It will explain architectural styles and types of buildings, maintenance guidelines and other information for property owners in the Main Street district.
Middletown has homes that cover a wide range of historic eras, from several log homes from the early 1800s to Victorian homes from the turn of the 20th century, said Main Street Manager Becky Reich.
When you live in a place with beautiful architecture, it’s easy to take it for granted, she said.
She hopes the booklet will give property owners a better understanding of how they can maintain their properties’ historic aspects.
The Heritage Fund that provided the grant supports preservation efforts, and is a joint effort between Preservation Maryland and the Maryland Historic Trust.
