Charles County sheriff’s officers responded to the area of Popes Creek Road and Belvidere Drive in Allens Fresh on June 28 for the report of a car crash.

Upon arrival, officer C. Curtis observed the driver, an 18-year-old man, trapped and unconscious inside the vehicle.

Curtis used his baton to break a window in an attempt to learn more about the driver’s injuries.

The driver was eventually extricated from the car and flown to a hospital where he was admitted with serious injuries, according to a news release.

Curtis was treated for minor cuts he received when he crawled through the broken window to help the driver. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
