U.S. Open raffleSt. Mary’s County Tennis Association is offering a raffle for the 2012 U.S. Open tennis tournament in New York, which begins Aug. 27.
The raffle winner will receive admission for two along with entrance to the Open during one of the first four days of the tournament, seating in the USTA President’s courtside box, lunch in the USTA President’s dining room, hospitality in the USTA President’s suite during the session, access to courtside seating in Louis Armstrong Stadium, access to all other courts at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center and access to U.S. Open bus transportation from the Grand Hyatt, New York.
The raffle will be closed after 100 tickets are sold. The drawing will be held on July 9 at the SMCTA board meeting.
Tickets are $50 each with all proceeds to be used to promote tennis activities for both youth and adults in St. Mary’s County.

A week of training will be offered to prepare female soccer players for the fall season from 6 to 8 p.m. July 23 to 27. Jaime Webster, St. Mary’s College assistant men’s soccer coach, will direct the camp, which is designed to focus on technical and tactical skills needed to compete at the high school level and beyond. The cost is $75.
Webster will also host a fitness camp for boys and girls high school players from 6 to 8 p.m. July 30 to Aug. 3. Each session will be designed to improve an individual’s fitness both on and off the ball.

Governor’s CupSt. Mary’s College of Maryland will hold the 39th annual Governor’s Cup Yacht Race on Aug. 3 and 4 and registration is now open.
The Governor’s Cup is the oldest and longest overnight race on the Chesapeake Bay, starting from Annapolis and ending at St. Mary’s River in St. Mary’s City. This year’s race will include a Potomac leg, where some competitors will start in Dalghren, Va., and end in St Mary’s City along with the finishers from Annapolis.

Prep soccer campThe Southern Maryland High School Soccer Prep Camp will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 6 to 10 at the St. John Vianney Soccer complex in Prince Frederick.
