Police have charged a teenager with shooting another in the face Saturday morning at a house party on Derryfield Court in Waldorf.

Earl Tyree Porter, 17, of Waldorf is being held without bond in Charles County jail on charges including attempted first-degree murder and assault. He was charged as an adult.

Officers arrested Porter at his Westdale Drive home Wednesday morning without incident, Charles County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Diane Richardson said.

Police were notified of the shooting at 1:40 a.m. Saturday and went to the 4900 block of Derryfield Court to learn that someone had pulled out a handgun during an argument between two groups of people at the party and fired multiple shots, hitting a 19-year-old man in the face.

The man’s friends took him to Civista Medical Center in La Plata, from where he was flown to another hospital. He was listed in stable condition.

Interviews with others at the party led investigators to Porter. Detectives found physical evidence at Porter’s home linking him to the shooting, Richardson said, though she declined to specify what kind of evidence.
