John Andrew Stamper, 82, Indian Head
John Andrew Stamper, 82, of Indian Head died July 6, 2012.
Born March 28, 1930, he graduated from Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Ky., in 1949. He earned a bachelor’s of science in physics from Ohio State University, a master’s from University of Kentucky and a doctorate in plasma physics from University of Maryland. He completed a tour of duty in the U.S. Navy as a gunnery officer on an attack cargo ship and later worked 40 years as a research scientist at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Ann Cain Stamper.
He is survived by his sons, Gregory Stamper and Julian Stamper; and granddaughter, Mariah Passwaters-Stamper.
Visitation will be held from noon until time of service at 1 p.m. July 13 at the Great Crossing Baptist Church, Georgetown, Ky. Burial will take place at Georgetown Cemetery.
