A Chaptico woman was arrested this week on charging papers alleging she collected $2,332 this year from a state medical care fund for making home care visits, before the St. Mary’s County Health Department terminated her from the program for filing false vouchers.
Amy Lynn Kagen, 32, was released from custody Wednesday on 10 percent of $5,000 bond to await further court proceedings on the charges including defrauding the state health plan, forgery and theft offenses.
Kagen submitted vouchers for 88 visits earlier this year to a client’s home, but the client told police that the suspect came in to care for her only three or four times during that time period, according to a charges application filed in district court. The client also told police that the signatures on eight submitted work vouchers were not her signature.
