A Brandywine man has been charged with killing his 69-year-old cousin in a fight over a spare tire Thursday, Prince George’s County police reported.
Francis Washington Jr., 57, of the 11100 block of Cross Road Trail in Brandywine, has been charged with first- and second-degree murder, manslaughter and first-degree assault, according to online Prince George’s County District Court records.
Around 4:32 p.m. Thursday, Prince George’s police officers went to Washington’s home after someone reported a shooting and found the suspect’s cousin, Thomas Washington, inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.
Thomas Washington was pronounced dead on the scene and Francis Washington was taken into custody.
Police said an investigation showed that the incident stemmed from a dispute regarding a spare tire.
Francis Washington is being held at the P.G. County jail without bail.
Defense attorney information for Francis Washington was not listed with the courts Sunday, according to online court records.
Calls to Francis Washington’s residence were not returned.
