A Charles County grand jury has indicted a Waldorf teenager for allegedly shooting another teen in the face at a July 7 house party.
Earl Tyree Porter, 17, has been charged as an adult with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault and various firearm counts, the indictment reads.
Porter was arrested without incident at his Westdale Drive home the morning of July 11, four days after an early-morning house party on Derryfield Court in Waldorf, during which an argument between two groups of people ended with a 19-year-old man getting shot in the face, Charles County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Diane Richardson said.
Police were notified of the shooting at 1:40 a.m. and arrived on the scene to learn that someone had pulled out a handgun during the argument and fired multiple shots, Richardson said.
The man’s friends took him to Civista Medical Center in La Plata, but he was eventually flown to another hospital and listed in stable condition, police said.
Interviews with other people at the party led investigators to Porter. Detectives found physical evidence at Porter’s home linking him to the shooting, Richardson said.
