A 14-year-old summer school student at Westlake High School has been charged with possession of a concealed deadly weapon after a school resource officer found a black pellet gun in his book bag July 20, police reported.
A school staff member alerted Officer R. Anderson at 10:50 a.m. that the student was possibly in possession of a handgun.
Anderson was familiar with the student and found him in the parking lot, hiding behind the seat of a car that had three other people inside it.
Anderson ordered the student out of the car, but as the student got out he broke from the officer’s grip and fled.
Anderson eventually apprehended the student and arrested him after finding the gun.
