Arthur C. Lannutti, 91, White Plains

Arthur C. Lannutti, 91, of White Plains died of natural causes June 20, 2012, in Silver Spring.

Born Jan. 11, 1921, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Nicholas Lannutti and the late Marianne Colasanto.

He graduated from Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he studied the bassoon. He played with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, where he was first chair. He taught at the Peabody Conservatory. After retiring from the orchestra, he joined Peoples Life Insurance Co. He then retired as district manager from Home Life (previously Peoples).

He was a member of New Beginnings at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, the Southern Maryland Widowed Seniors Club, American Antique Arts Association, Kiwanis Club of Waldorf and La Plata and the Reading Partners of Charles County schools. He was active at the Richard R. Clark Senior Center. He was an avid reader of poetry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Difonzio Lannutti.

He is survived by his twin sister, Mitzi Libetti; and many other relatives.

A life celebration will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sept. 29 at Huntt Funeral Home, Waldorf.
