Applications are being accepted for Queen Nicotina, the Charles County Fair queen.

The queen will reign over the fair from Sept. 13 to 16.

Candidates must be residents of Charles County for at least four years, sponsored by a county civic or educational organization, be unmarried, a senior in a county high school or a freshman at the College of Southern Maryland and must have a C average or better in school.

On Sept. 7, a panel will interview the nominees and select the queen along with her court.

Entry forms are in the fair guide. The guide can be picked up at the Maryland Independent office at 7 Industrial Park Drive in Waldorf.
