Mattawoman Creek Art Center will hold an all-media art show Aug. 24 through Sept. 23.
Entries must be delivered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 18 and noon to 2 p.m. Aug. 19 to the center at Smallwood State Park in Marbury.
The show has no theme and artists can submit up to three pieces of original work.
The entry fee is $5 per piece for members and $8 for nonmembers.

Day of Caring planned Sept. 6
The United Way of Charles County needs volunteers for its annual Day of Caring on Sept. 6.
Volunteers will meet for breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at the Jaycees center in Waldorf and then go to local nonprofits to perform approximately four hours of volunteer labor on a variety of tasks.

Orchestra auditions set for Sept. 8
Charles County Youth Orchestra and Encore Strings will hold auditions Sept. 8 at the Port Tobacco Players Theater at 508 Charles St. in La Plata.

Flower show to bloom at fair
The Charles County Garden Club’s theme for its Charles County Fair flower show is “Glitz and Glam.” The fair will be Sept. 12 through 16 at the fairgrounds south of La Plata.
Horticulture and design entries are being sought for the event and it is open to anyone.
Entries for horticulture should be submitted from noon to 8 p.m. Sept. 12. The designs may be entered from noon to 8 p.m. on Sept. 12 and between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sept. 13.
A workshop will be held at 5 p.m. Sept. 12 for youth with all designs entered in the fair in that division created during the session.
