Community Bank of Tri-County is proud to support the Southern Maryland Food Bank through participation in the Casual for a Cause program. Casual for a Cause is an annual program designed by Community Bank to help support local organizations while allowing employees to dress casually during the summer.

“This year we raised $6,500 for the Southern Maryland Food Bank,” said Michael Middleton, Community Bank of Tri-County CEO and board chairman. “At Community Bank, we strongly believe in supporting the communities where we live and work. The generosity shown by our employees is a true testament to their dedication and commitment.”

Casual for a Cause is a great way for Community Bank of Tri-County employees to support local organizations. This year, any employee who contributed to the Southern Maryland Food Bank is entitled to “casual dress” for the three-month period from Memorial Day to Labor Day. In addition to monetary collections, the bank also is hosting a food drive for the duration of the program. Members of the community are welcome to drop off food donations at any Community Bank branch.

“The Southern Maryland Food Bank is constantly working to ease the struggle with hunger in Southern Maryland. As the number of people fighting hunger in our region continues to grow, the support from local businesses, like Community Bank of Tri-County, becomes invaluable,” said Brenda DiCarlo, director of the Southern Maryland Food Bank.

The Southern Maryland Food Bank has been serving the communities of Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties for 28 years. Through donations, it is able to provide food to nearly 40 pantries, group homes, soup kitchens and shelters. The food provided to these facilities feeds more than 10,000 local families each month.
