A free, three-hour football clinic, “Gridiron Legacy,” will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, in Calvert County. There are approximately 25 slots available. The camp will be run by ex-Redskins, all with Super Bowl rings. Gary Clark, with two Super Bowl rings and four-time pro bowler, will lead the group. Participating kids get free access to their individual position coaches for 52 weeks via email and free pictures and autographs with the players at the end of the clinic. Genres may include poetry, fiction, drama and creative non-fiction. Students will be guided through the writing process using exercises and readings that emphasize dynamic and meaningful expression. This exhibit features 23 paintings by renowned Chesapeake artist Castelli on loan from the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels. Family Day Benefit at Serenity Farm will be from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at 6932 Serenity Farm Road in Benedict. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward medical bills and needs not covered by insurance for Brent Jones, a member of the Prince Frederick Volunteer Rescue Squad who was paralyzed in an ATV accident, and to Charmaine Richardson, who was paralyzed while pregnant by an aggressive driver. There will be food and drinks for sale, games for kids, a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle, face painting, horseshoe and corn hole, and a petting zoo. The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs will donate a portion of every ticket sale made through BAY-CSS for that evening’s game, to help fund BAY-CSS support services for people with disabilities in Maryland.

Adult Education Classes, which help you prepare for the GED Test or the External Diploma Program, are offered during the day and during the evening in various sites within the county.
